With his precious daughter Amy (Joris) Stasiewicz by his side, Robert Bruce Hollinsworth passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Thunder Bay. Son of Sylvia and Harry Hollinsworth, brother of Harry “Champ” (Ida) Hollinsworth and Penny (Don) Donovan, uncle to Penny, Jim (Connie), Kim, Rob (Melinda), Ian, Jeff (Andrea), Trevor (Amanda), Derrick and great uncle as well. Rob was predeceased by his mother Sylvia Marie Hollinsworth (Saarinen).

Rob attended McKellar Park School and Fort William Collegiate. He had a lifelong career with United Grain Growers. Rob had many passions, none more than Amy. Sharon and Rob were married for 23 years and remained friends until the end and together they could not be prouder of the woman Amy has become.

No one can deny that being a dog in Rob’s life was a good thing. He loved them all as part of his family. Rob became a regular at the dog park and always had a treat on hand for any four-legged friend.

Rob was a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs, Raiders and Dale Earnhardt fan. He always enjoyed his trips to the dirt track races with his brother Champ. Rob was happiest when he was fishing and camping. He cherished the times he spent fishing with friends and family. As a campsite neighbor you were never without supplies; you could count on Rob to have at least one of almost everything.

Food and music were both great passions for Rob. He enjoyed creating something scrumptious for colleagues, friends and family. He acquired this cooking talent from his mother Sylvia. Rob loved every genre of music, especially Rock and Roll.

Amy and the family take comfort in knowing he suffers no more. Let not the diseases that inflicted him define who he was. Special thanks to long-time friends Rob, John and Julie, Bruce, neighbors Wayne and Noella, and especially the Whyte family for caring and watching out for Rob during these last few years.

In accordance with Rob’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held in his honor at 11 am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue. Rob gave regularly to many charities but his dearest were the War Amps of Canada and Thunder Bay & District Humane Society. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
