For a short period of time, Bruce worked for Thunder Bay Hydro as a security guard where he came to the realization that working in law enforcement as a police officer was his true calling at which time he returned to the Thunder Bay Police Force. As a part of the police force he was a founding member of the TRU team (Tactical Rescue Unit), was a competitive marksman and went on to be involved as a marksmanship instructor.

Upon retiring from the Thunder Bay Police Force he and Brenda went on to continue to provide another service, namely caring for other people’s pets at their kennel, Dacksville Boarding Kennel.

Bruce was a caring and loving husband to Brenda, father to Dorothy (Chuck) and Lesley (Ben), grandfather to Shannon (Brad), Brodie (Brooke), Katie (Dan) and Sydney and great grandfather to Leviah and Briar. He was very involved in the lives of all the generations of his family where he was a very positive and loving influence and always will be.

“Big Spike” spent his life as an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were both passions for him and he spent many, many hours and days in the company of his buddies who enjoyed similar interests.

Bruce will be missed but always remembered by his family and many friends. Please join us in a Celebration of Life Reception for Bruce on Friday, January 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Arthur Community Center. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Bruce’s memory to the TBRHSC Cancer Clinic.

“Life is eternal, love is immortal, death is only a horizon, and a horizon is nothing more than the limit of our sight”
