With tear filled eyes, we are sad to announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother Myrtle Agnes-Jean Metcalf (Nee McKay) on Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at Grandview Lodge.

Myrtle was born on March 17th, 1927 in Riverhurst, Saskatchewan to Mary and Robert McKay. Mom joined the Canadian Armed Services as part of the Women’s Auxiliary Core 1946, where she met the love of her life John Metcalf. Myrtle and John were married August 31st, 1947 in Ottawa. Throughout her life she worked in various restaurants as a waitress and at McCartney’s Jewelers. Myrtle loved to crochet, knit and bake.

Mom was predeceased by her husband John Metcalf on February 4th, 2012. She is survived by her four siblings; her sons Reg (Ann), Terry (Maria), Larry (Connie), Kevin (Joy); daughter Tracey (Gerry) and 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

At moms request there will be no service. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 13th from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 South Syndicate Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to all the staff at Grandview Lodge and Dr. Ross Johnson for the care, kindness, and compassion shown to our mother.
