It is with much sorrow that the family of Margaret Bridget Jean Albrecht, age 78, announces her passing on Monday July 13, 2015. Margaret passed away peacefully with family by her side.

Margaret was born on June 20, 1937 to Margaret and Archie Donohue. Margaret married the love of her life Gordon Albrecht on May 28, 1955. Together they raised a very close knit family.

Margaret was a very hard working woman. Margaret and Gordon were well known foster parents in their community. They were presented with a scroll from the Native Community of the District of Thunder Bay for the many years of excellent foster care, love and guidance to native children entrusted to their care. She had a heart of gold and the door was always open at her home.

Margaret enjoyed spending many hours gardening, cooking, knitting, and playing cards. She shared each of these hobbies with her family. Margaret had many special recipes that her family will always cherish. She had a sense of humour that would make you laugh for days. These memories will be with us forever.

Margaret retired from the Hudson Bay Company in Manitouwadge, ON and soon after relocated to Thunder Bay with Gordon for their retirement years together.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Gordon Albrecht, children Karen (Jack) LaFroy, David (Laraine) Albrecht, Joanne Albrecht (Louie Gervais), Vannessa (Edgar) Jaunzarins, Mark (Suzanne) Albrecht, Glen Albrecht, Carol Kinney, and Louise Grenier; grandchildren, Meranda (Russell) Preston, Drue Boulet, Keith (Crystal) Homey, Rhy Jaunzarins, Kristin Foster (Dave), Bridget Jaunzarins (Mathieu Beruber), Corrine (Colin) Johnson, Ashley LaFroy (Jordan Ball), Devon Foster, Eric Foster, Jennah Albrecht, Shayne Albrecht, Ashana Albrecht and Fayth; and five great grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her brothers Mervyn (Maureen) Donohue, Richard (Margie) Donohue and all of her brothers and sisters in-law.

She is predeceased by her parents Margaret and Archie Donohue, her in-laws Agatha & Rudolph Albrecht, sister Barbara Filmore, sisters in-law Stella Mychasiw & Laura Donohue, brothers in-law Don Filmore & Adolph Lowenburger, & Louisa Grenier.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at TBRHSC, CCAC, St. Joseph’s Care Group & Jenkens Funeral Home. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to their mothers nurse Kathleen Moore for her exceptional care throughout Margaret’s difficult journey.

A private family visitation was held July 15, 2015 at Jenkens Funeral Home & an interment will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Margaret may be made to TBRHSF – Renal/Hemodialysis Fund.

We often think of by gone days when we were all together,

The family chain is weakened, to us she has not gone away,

nor has she travelled far.

Just entered God’s eternal home & left the gate ajar.

All my love, Gordon
