The family is very sad to announce the peaceful passing of June Ethel Niven (Seed), in her 91st year, with her family at her side on Friday, November 29. A great lady, always with a smile on her face. Her parents were scheduled to come to Canada from England on the Titanic but at the last minute Aunt Amelia also wanted to come. Since there was no more room on the ship, they cancelled and all came on another liner. At 19 she married Jim Niven from Bowhill, Scotland and they enjoyed over 53 years of happy marriage. June began working at the Belgium Ladies Wear Store, and then Walker’s Department Store and finished at Mark’s and Spencer, retiring at 55. June loved animals and had several cocker spaniel dogs, all named “Trudy”. Summers were always spent at the family cottage at East Green Bay, where June enjoyed large family gatherings. Several winters June and Jim travelled south with brothers and sisters coming along to join in the fun. Survived by son David (wife Lindsay); grandson Erik; granddaughter-in-law Alysia and great grandchildren Kennedi, Madysen and Odessa. Predeceased by her husband Jim in 1995, her three brothers and four sisters and grandson Bradley. A private family service has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at the Barcelona Room at the Airlane Hotel on Wednesday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. A truly remarkable lady, she will be deeply missed.
