<div itemprop="description">Mr. John Francis Anderson (Dobie) passed away peacefully at Hogarth Riverview Manor on January 25, 2017 at the age of 91. John was born on August 13, 1925 in Schreiber ON. After meeting the love of his life, Gladys they married on August 7, 1954, raised 6 children, and spent most of his life living and working in Schreiber. John worked 45 years for the CPR as a trainmen/conductor. In 1985 they moved to Thunder Bay, and John spent his last four years as conductor on the VIA until his retirement in 1989. John enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Fort William Country Club. He also enjoyed fishing and wintering in Florida for many years. He loved to dance, especially in his later years. He served as a local chairman for the UTU 571 union and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. John was predeceased by his mother Catherine and his father Joseph. He is survived by his wife Gladys, children Cathy (Cliff) Lavigne, Michael (Nadine) of Schreiber, Stephen (Georgina) of Port Coquitlam BC, John Greg (Emily) of Lakeville MN, Paul of London ON, Peter (Darla). Grandchildren whom he cherished, Jason (Andrea), Derek, Dylan, Mikaela, Tyler, Marissa, Courtney, Jonathon, Thomas, Sienna, Liam and great grandchild Amy, sister Rosemary Chisholm and brother Patrick Anderson of Sudbury ON. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye. He was loved by all that met him, was always a gentlemen and touched everyone in some way. He will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service for Mr. John Anderson will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1019 Brown St., luncheon to follow. If friends so desire, memorial donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society or Canadian Cancer Society Northwest Region. <br></div>
