JEAN TUOMI

Jean Tuomi, age 89 years was lifted gently and peacefully into the arms of angels with family by her side on February 18, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospice. She will be lovingly remembered for her kind and compassionate spirit and beautiful beaming smile. She was greatly loved by all those who met her. Family was most important to Jean and she dedicated her life raising five daughters with her husband Victor on Lakeshore Drive. She was very proud of all her daughters and their accomplishments and raised them to freely be who they wanted to be. Her home was “home base” and the place to go. She always had fresh bread, cookies, biscuits, coffee and tea on the go. Anyone could drop in unannounced and would be welcomed with open arms. She taught by example and emitted an aura of unconditional love. Her words of wisdom have impacted the lives of many. Jean’s legacy is that of strength, courage, perseverance and the power of love. Her favourite saying of late, was affectionately “Hi Dolly.” This warmed the hearts of all who visited. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all.

Survived by daughters Sharron (Warren) Parsons, Shirley (Wes) Peckett, Jeannie Tuomi (Maria Fiorot), June (Steve) Rysinski and son-in-law Dan Doucette. Also surviving are grandchildren Lorilee (Des) Thomas, Lisa Parsons (Steve Larocque), Tara Parsons, Darren (Linda) Peckett, Shelly (Craig) Schultz, Carolyn Doucette (Cyrus Block), Lindsay (Mike) Tomasevic, Tiffany (Mike) Sorokopud, Michael Rysinski and twelve great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by husband Victor (1989), daughter Susan Doucette (2012) and great-grandson Trey Thomas (2006).

According to Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Internment of ashes and a celebration of Jean’s life will be held at a later date in June. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory made to the St. Joseph’s Foundation-Hospice Unit would be greatly appreciated. We would like to thank the entire staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice and Support Services staff of PR Cook Apartments for their kindness and compassionate care of our mother in the months leading up to her passing.

“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains”. Shine on Mom. You will always be in our hearts.

“ Loving Memories Last Forever”

“Till we meet again”
