<div itemprop="description"><br /> <br />We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a wonderful father, Clifford Theodore Edwards, a resident of Pinewood Court, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the age of 95 years. Born in Port Arthur, Ontario on March 6, 1919, he was raised in Sellars, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in January 1942 as a Private in the Forestry Corp. in which he served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He met his wife Lily in Manchester, England after corresponding as pen pals with each other for a period of time. They met while he was stationed in Manchester, when he boarded with her family, and on December 22, 1945 they married. Lily joined him in Canada a year later after he was discharged from the army in March of 1946. He was a farmer before being employed for a number of years in the sawmill industry, and then for Kakabeka Provincial Park in maintenance, retiring later due to health. He is survived by five children: Carolyn (Bill) Martin, Patsy (Jim) Broomfield, Vicki Bruni, Sandra Budd, of Thunder Bay and a son Tom (Lisa) Edwards of Jacksonville, North Carolina, enroute; ten grandchildren: Lois and Shelley Martin, Kim Aalto, Mark Broomfield, Tanya and Jasmine Bruni, Sam Budd, Samantha, Emily and Katie Edwards; seven great-grandchildren: Austin Aalto, Eric and Luke Boilard, Cooper and Piper Fraser and Jacob and Sophie Abbott. Also survived by brothers, Alvin, Jack and Pat Edwards. Predeceased by his wife Lily in July of 2012, a son-in-law Carl Bruni, parents Chester and Nora Edwards and sister Thelma Kivi. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church (corner of Edward and Donald Street) on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Hymers Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></div>
