It is with great sadness that the family announces that Angelo Ugo Zorzes passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. He fought valiantly to get well and return to his beloved home in the Slate River Valley but succumbed on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 to complications following heart surgery.

Angelo was born on April 1, 1949 in Azzano Decimo, Italy and emigrated as an infant with his mother to join his father in Fort William. Angelo soon became the proud older brother of Fabio and Leo and throughout his life took his job of big brother – worrier, friend and supporter - seriously. He grew up enjoying the outdoors and fulfilled his wish to build his dream house in the country. Angelo worked for 27 years as an Environmental Officer for the Province, enjoying not only the work but making lifelong friendships. He chose to retire in 2002 to pursue his favourite hobbies. He was happiest with a fishing rod or building tools in hand or when sharing his home and the excellent meals he liked to cook with his wife of thirty-three years, Susan, family and friends. Ange was a quiet man who enjoyed friends from all walks of life, all animals but particularly his Irish Setters, and travelling near and far. Treasured memories included trips with Susan to the Amazon River in Brazil, visits to family in Italy, and sailing in Sydney Harbour, Australia.

Angelo will be greatly missed by his wife Susan, brother Fabio and sister-in-law Donna, brother Leo, nephews Chris and Quinnton (Margaret), niece Jennifer (George) and numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Macedonio and Alda.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church with luncheon in the church hall followed by a private interment. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations in Angelo’s memory to the Mark Preece Family House which offered wonderful support to our family while with Angelo in Hamilton or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
