A Celebration of Life is to be had on Sunday May 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home for Adolf (Al) Joseph Zellweger.

Born in Wattwil, Switzerland on October 31, 1936, Al’s family immigrated to Canada in 1948, on the Empress of Canada that docked in Halifax on April 3rd. At 11 years old, he and his family took the CP Rail to Syndicate Avenue in Fort William, Ontario. Born one of 5 children that showed up in leather lederhosen to find snow up to the roof of the CP Rail…from here they started their new life in Canada.

Al’s life gave him many an adventure. He lived a large life on a meager salary but made life a trail of memories and good times. Al had many a job that lead him to meet many a person, from working on vehicles, clearing land or “cutting slash” as they would say, to loading boats, working at the Ogilvie Flour Mill, to being a whistle punk for the men in the tree trenches.

Al worked at Saskatchewan Wheat Elevators until he retired. Prior to that he took on a dream, and purchase the Crippled Crow. Here we all had many a time living and enjoying what life had to bring. After selling the Crow, and being Al, he decided to take on another job endeavor as you need funds to live life, and he began his final career of delivering the Chronicle Journal papers for many years to the corner boxes on your street…right up until May 5, 2016 at 79 years old.

He had two loves in his life, Beatrice Rahmer for 18 years, giving life to Tara Dawn (Kevin) Janice Zellweger (Dave) and Heidi McNally (Hugh). They lost a little one, Gregory Joseph Zellweger in 1963.

Left before him were his parents Adolf Henrik Zellweger and Marie Zellweger-Lenherr, sister Marie Larabee, brothers Wally and Warner Zellweger. Left behind the last of his line Fritz Zellweger (Carol). His second life for 32 happy and loving life years was spent with Wendy Hopkins, bringing two children from her first marriage, Kathleen Wanzuk Rahmer (Jim and family) and Brian Rahmer (and family) to the mix. Together the love of Al and Wendy brought into the world a bouncing baby boy Joee Zellweger (Kim).

Al and Wendy did the unbelievable together and had a life of insane fun, which happened because of an intense work ethic…as life was not handed but earned. Meeting him in heaven are not only his immediate family, but also his wonderful in-laws, Lois and Mel Hopkins, Linda Waldon, Allen Hopkins, and Donald Hopkins.

There is so much more to this man and we invite you to come and hear about the amazing life of Al Zellweger. Due to the unfortunate issues we cannot do a live feed for Al at Superior Bowladrome. We will try to hold you all at Jenkens, inside and out. Donations to whomever you would like to support.
